The fogwalker for 'Project Tear' an indie game in development.
This character was described as being from a far off tribe that lives near a poison swamp and is immune to its poisons. I went with a mesoamerican influenced design , which was then adjusted to make it look more like his armour was a mix of Mesomaerican and western. The idea being he has traveled from his lands to the new frontier and has salvaged pieces of armour along the way.
I Wanted to get the poison themes across in his character and was inspired by poison dart frogs in his colour scheme. I think it really helped to sell the poison idea better whilst still sticking to a bright colourful scheme you might associate with mesoamerican culture.
In my research I read about obsidian urns used to hold enemies bodies and I thought an oversized version of that he puts his enemies bodies into could be a fun idea.
I tried to hint at his poison swamp /fog origins with the patterns in his armour,robe and urn.
