The Pauper Prince for indie game in development- Project Tear

Described as a pauper prince who wears a wooden crown,lives as a pauper but is of royal blood.

I really wanted to capture the pauper and kingly aspects of this character in one design. I looked at a lot of paintings of medieval kings and noticed that a 'schaube' cloak with broad shoulders was a very common look among kings and nobles. I tried to think how i might get this look for the pauper prince without being to outright kingly. Looking at fashiong and runways, there were a few collections where blankets had been used to create a very similar silhouette to the schaube. I thought this could work perfect for this character. Maybe he has spent some time living on the streets and wears his blankets folded in such a way that it creates a kingly silhouette. Inspired by some indian armour I also covered his shoulder armour in coins , my thinking being he is proudly displaying his poor background and time spent living on the street.
